Platform overview
Two platforms, different approaches. Here's how they stack up.
Tokei
Tokei is an agent-native alternative to KingSumo for running sweepstakes, giveaways, and viral promotions. It helps creators, startups, and brands collect emails, grow social followings, and build hype from a single promotion page, with 30+ social entry methods, fraud scoring and manual review, built-in gamification, and a prize wheel for drawing winners. Unlike traditional giveaway platforms, Tokei ships a CLI and an MCP server, so AI agents can create, manage, and analyse campaigns programmatically.
What sets Tokei apart is its all-in-one pricing and gamification engine. Leaderboards, XP systems, daily bonuses, and referral tracking turn one-time entrants into repeat visitors. It integrates natively with Mailchimp, Klaviyo and Brevo, connects to Make.com, n8n and Zapier through its API, and offers a full developer API with OpenAPI 3.0 spec. The AI agents, CLI, and MCP server wrap that API for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, OpenClaw, and any other MCP client.
KingSumo is a giveaway tool from the AppSumo family (Sumo Group). It focuses on one thing: growing your email list with viral giveaways. Entrants sign up with an email or Google account, then get bonus entries for sharing with friends. KingSumo sends automatic reminder emails to entrants and lets you embed giveaways on any site.
There's a free plan with unlimited giveaways. The paid Lifetime plan is a one-time $49 payment through AppSumo, which adds custom branding, Meta pixel and conversion tracking, custom rules, extra entry fields and advanced integrations.

AI agents and CLI: where Tokei is different
Every other row in those tables is a feature you click. This one you type.
Tokei runs programmatically through its REST API, a command-line tool, and an MCP server. The tokei-agent package wraps the v1 API as both a CLI and an MCP server over stdio, exposing 21 operations as tools that Claude Code, Claude Desktop, OpenClaw, and any other MCP client discover automatically.
So an AI coding agent can create and manage promotions, edit copy and dates, upload media, pull analytics, inspect leaderboards, and wire up webhooks — without you opening the dashboard. API keys are read-only by default, and writes stay behind human-in-the-loop approval. KingSumo doesn't list an API, CLI or MCP server.

- Automatic reminder emails to entrants are built in.
- No subscription. Pay once and keep it.
- Free plan. Tokei has a 3-day trial, no free plan.
Where Tokei is the better pick
- Verified actions across 30+ platforms, including Discord, Steam, YouTube, TikTok and Twitch. KingSumo is built around email sign-up plus share-for-bonus.

- Surveys and photo uploads to learn from your audience.
- Fraud scoring and manual review, plus geo-blocking.
- API, webhooks, CLI and MCP server. Run campaigns from Claude Code or your own app.
- Templates for launches: Kickstarter pre-launch, Steam wishlists, Discord and Twitch growth.
Which one should you choose?
Choose Tokei if
You want to grow more than an email list — Discord members, Steam wishlists, social followers — or want leaderboards, surveys or API control.
Choose KingSumo if
You want one simple email-list giveaway, on a tight budget, and don't need verified social actions or an API.
