Platform overview
Two platforms, different approaches. Here's how they stack up.
Tokei
Tokei is an agent-native alternative to ViralSweep for running sweepstakes, giveaways, and viral promotions. It helps creators, startups, and brands collect emails, grow social followings, and build hype from a single promotion page, with 30+ social entry methods, fraud scoring and manual review, built-in gamification, and a prize wheel for drawing winners. Unlike traditional giveaway platforms, Tokei ships a CLI and an MCP server, so AI agents can create, manage, and analyse campaigns programmatically.
What sets Tokei apart is its all-in-one pricing and gamification engine. Leaderboards, XP systems, daily bonuses, and referral tracking turn one-time entrants into repeat visitors. It integrates natively with Mailchimp, Klaviyo and Brevo, connects to Make.com, n8n and Zapier through its API, and offers a full developer API with OpenAPI 3.0 spec. The AI agents, CLI, and MCP server wrap that API for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, OpenClaw, and any other MCP client.
ViralSweep is a sweepstakes and promotions platform used heavily by ecommerce brands. It offers a set of apps — Sweepstakes, Giveaway, Contest, Instant Win, Purchases, Waitlist, Milestones, Comments, Gallery, Email Capture and Hashtags — plus a Network feature for co-promoting with other brands.
Its strengths are ecommerce and email depth. The Purchases app awards entries for money spent on Shopify or BigCommerce, and it connects to around 50 email, SMS and CRM tools including Klaviyo, Attentive, HubSpot and Salesforce. Higher plans add white labelling, custom CSS, API access, A/B testing, payments and multiple languages. All plans include unlimited promotions and entries.

AI agents and CLI: where Tokei is different
Every other row in those tables is a feature you click. This one you type.
Tokei runs programmatically through its REST API, a command-line tool, and an MCP server. The tokei-agent package wraps the v1 API as both a CLI and an MCP server over stdio, exposing 21 operations as tools that Claude Code, Claude Desktop, OpenClaw, and any other MCP client discover automatically.
So an AI coding agent can create and manage promotions, edit copy and dates, upload media, pull analytics, inspect leaderboards, and wire up webhooks — without you opening the dashboard. API keys are read-only by default, and writes stay behind human-in-the-loop approval. ViralSweep offers an API on its Premium plan ($399/mo) and above. It doesn't list a CLI or MCP server.
Where ViralSweep is the better pick
- Ecommerce depth. The Purchases app gives entries per dollar spent on Shopify or BigCommerce, with sales tracking and dynamic coupons.
- More types of promotion. Separate apps for instant win, waitlists, milestones, comment giveaways, hashtag entries and galleries.
- Much bigger integration list, including SMS tools (Attentive, Postscript) and CRMs like Salesforce and HubSpot.
- Teams and agencies. Multiple brands and extra users on higher plans.
- Payments, pay-to-vote and A/B testing on Premium.
- Live chat support on business hours (8AM–5PM ET), plus scheduled calls. Tokei has email and in-dashboard messages.
- Longer trial. 7 days vs Tokei's 3.
- Managed service. Elite plan includes one promotion built for you each month. Enterprise adds legal administration, bonding and registrations.
