Facebook Actions

Grow your Facebook presence with Visit Page, View Post and Join Group actions. All three are trust-based: the participant is sent to Facebook and claims the entry when they return.

Available Actions

Visit a Page

Send the user to a Facebook page. Takes the page URL, and optionally a page handle used to label the button ("Visit @yourbrand on Facebook"). Worth 2 points by default.

View Post

Draw attention to a specific Facebook post or video. Takes the post URL. Best for launch announcements or a post you want engagement on. Worth 3 points by default.

Join a Facebook Group

Ask the user to join a specific group. Takes the group URL. Worth 3 points by default.

Setting Up a Facebook Action

Add the action from the Entry Methods tab of the promotion editor, then paste the URL for the page, post or group you want to promote.

Setup

1

Open the Entry Methods tab and add a Facebook action

2

Choose Visit a Page, View Post or Join a Facebook Group

3

Paste the Facebook URL — it must be on facebook.com (www. and m. are both accepted)

4

For Visit a Page, add your page handle so the button reads "Visit @yourbrand on Facebook"

5

Set the entry value and enable the action

Participant Experience

  • Participant clicks the button, which opens Facebook in a new tab
  • They follow, view or join on Facebook
  • They return to your page and claim the entry

How Verification Works

Facebook actions are trust-based. Facebook does not expose an API that lets a third party confirm a page like, post view or group join, so points are awarded when the participant confirms they completed the action.

If you want a human check before points stand, switch on manual verification for the action. Submissions then land in your Verify dashboard, where you approve or reject each one.

Tip: trust-based actions convert far better than gated ones. Reserve manual verification for high-value prizes where a bad actor has a real incentive to cheat.

Tips

  • Use a recent, relevant post so participants land on something worth engaging with
  • Keep the button copy specific — "Visit our Page and follow" beats "Facebook"
  • A group join asks more of a participant than a page visit, so award it more points
  • Facebook group joins often need admin approval — set expectations in the action description

Availability

Available on Contest, Gamify and Promote pages. On a Landing page, actions only appear once the visitor has signed up.
