Secret Code Action
Reward participants who enter a code you control — from a video, a receipt, a QR code, a printed insert, or an event.
Two Code Modes
Universal Code
One shared code that any number of participants can each claim once. Ideal for putting a code in a video, on a poster, or in a newsletter.
Single-Use Codes
A list of unique codes where each one can only ever be claimed by one participant. Add them by hand or bulk-upload a CSV.
Setup
The Secret Code action lives in the Entry Methods tab of the promotion editor, between Audience Interaction and X Actions. It appears once your page collects emails and is set to Competition or Gamification.
Quick Start
- Open your promotion in the dashboard
- Go to the Entry Methods tab
- Switch on Secret Code
- Set the button label and the description shown above the code box
- Set how many entries a successful code is worth (1–100)
- Add codes one at a time, or bulk-upload a CSV
- Save and publish your promotion
Tip: codes may use letters, numbers, hyphens and underscores, 5–32 characters. A CSV can carry up to 50,000 codes, comma-separated or one per line.
What Users See
Participants type a code and it unlocks entries the moment it matches.
Setup
Choose a universal code or upload single-use codes
Set the entry value (default: 1)
Optionally require other actions first
Participant Experience
- Open the "Enter The Secret Code" row on your page
- Type or paste the code — it is checked as they type, with no submit button
- A valid code unlocks the entries immediately
Tips
- Each participant can claim one code per promotion, ever — a list of 50,000 codes is still worth a single claim to any one entrant
- Valid codes never reach the browser: every attempt is checked on the server, so a code cannot be guessed from the page source
- Pair with YouTube: read a code out in your video so watching is rewarded without breaking YouTube's Fake Engagement Policy
- Print codes on receipts, packaging inserts, event badges or QR codes to tie an online promotion to something physical
- Codes are case-insensitive and unique per promotion — they are lowercased before matching, so PRIZE2026 and prize2026 are the same code
- Use cases: password-protecting a campaign, treasure hunts, validating order IDs, printable coupon numbers and in-store redemption
Codes Are Never Copied
Codes are stored separately from the rest of your promotion, so they are never copied when a page is duplicated or cloned from a template. A clone arrives with the code box switched on and no codes in it — add your own before publishing.
Note: this includes the Secret Code template in the dashboard Template Showcase.
Availability
Available on Contest and Gamify pages that collect emails. It is deliberately hidden on Landing pages, so a promotion whose only action is a secret code renders nothing.
