Entry Methods & Actions
Actions are the core of Tokei campaigns. Participants earn entries or points by completing tasks that promote your app, product or project across different platforms.
Platform Actions
Add these from the Entry Methods tab of the promotion editor. Each one targets a specific platform and has its own settings. Click any card for setup instructions and best practices.
Built-In Actions
These need no platform account. Enable them in the Promotion tab of the promotion editor and set an entry value for each.
Viral Share (Referrals)
A unique referral link per entrant. Tokei rewards it twice: once when the participant shares their link, and again as a bonus when someone actually signs up through it — so effort and results are both credited. You can set a custom message that appears alongside the link.
Bonus
A single-click bonus entry. Supports daily entry — participants return each day to click it again — and the button resets the following day. Most effective on Gamify pages running for weeks.
Visit
Direct users to any page or site: your website, a product page, a special offer, a partner, a podcast, a Kickstarter, or a social network with no dedicated action of its own. The backbone of a Promote page.
Answer a Question (Survey)
Ask participants a freeform question and reward the answer. It can be made mandatory, so entrants must respond before continuing. Responses land in your Survey dashboard for review and export.
Upload
Accept file uploads — images and videos — as an entry method. Like the survey, it can be made mandatory. Best paired with manual verification so you approve each submission.
Social Share
One action, six destinations: Facebook, X, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Telegram and Pinterest. Enable the platforms you want in the Promotion tab. Sharing is credited on the share itself, unlike Viral Share which also pays out per successful referral.
Entry Values
Every action ships with a sensible default, but you set the value yourself per action. Price by the effort you are asking for — a Like is one tap, while a Repost spends the participant's own reach.
| Effort | Examples | Typical default |
|---|---|---|
| Low | Like a post, daily bonus, visit a website | 1 |
| Medium | Follow an account, share a link, view a post | 2-3 |
| High | Repost, join a Discord server, wishlist on Steam, upload a photo, complete a survey | 4-5 |
Trust and Verification
Most actions are trust-based: the participant is handed off to the platform and the entry is credited when they come back and confirm. No social network lets a third party check that a follow really happened, so this is the honest default — and it converts far better than gating entries behind an account connection.
Where you need a human check, switch on manual verification for that action. Submissions then appear in your Verify dashboard for approval or rejection before the points stand. It is worth the friction on high-value prizes and on photo submissions, and rarely worth it anywhere else.
Email Integration
Sync collected emails to Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Kit and more.
